Well, I thought it was about time I shared with you some of the action that took place at Round 4 of the TopGear Racing series at Queensland raceway (Aus) earlier this year.

There were 6 categories on the day, Sedan, Sports, MX5s, Race Cars, SuperKarts & Invited groups. The cars there ranged from old school Alfas – Shelby Cobras and there was no shortage of big HP!

Below are a sample of some of the most interesting shots I took on the day, you can check out the rest on my flickr.

Cars in this particular series were averaging around 200+km an hour on the straight.

A beautiful example of a fully restored Alfa GT spec’d for track! It’s thanks to Mike Garrett that I actually have an appreciation now for these beauties! His Auto-Otaku blog first featured a JDM’d Alfa GT Junior and it was love at first for me! Cheers Mike!

Rolling thunder – is kind of close to the sound that these beasts made as they tore past along the straight! Pure un-adulterated aural passion! :D

This datto had dialed in some serious negative camber! Love the fact that most cars from this serious all came with standard lip-flared guards.

This beauty looked the goods for the first half of the races but after an unfortunate spill in the 3rd race, damaged it’s front bar + front left guard. Oh well! All in a days work at the office I suppose!

Although not officially racing on the day, this GT40 was simmering next to the pits with a stance that implied simply: “keep left if you want to live!” *in an Austrian accent*

One of my many favourite moments through out the day was watching the cars line up in the pits and hearing their low throaty and lumpy purr as they prowled past.

This had to be one of the coolest Alfas of the day! I mean I love my GT Juniors but there was something about this model, perhaps the uncanny resemblance to the Ke70 corolla that always grabbed my attention no matter what other high hp car came next to it. And you have to admire the custom team name at the top! Squadra Alfetta! Can just imagine a squadron of these thundering around the track doing perfectly unison drift!

Biggest props for sheer surprise car of the day go to this hot little Civic! The sound emanating from under this shell was just completely unbelievable! The idle was lopey, yet deep and reminiscent of a v8 and at times sounding surprisingly like a motorbike engine! I seriously regret not asking the owner/driver what was done to it – If it’s present next year, I will gladly do so!

TranzAM action baby! I’m taking a video camera next time, because there’s no words to explain how this sounded nor how fast it came out of those corners! it’s as if it had invisible afterburners!

“she’s a very special girl…..the kind you DO take home to mother!” :P Sorry but just look at it…..*drool*

Can’t wait for next season! ^_^
